Practically: MotaCoin is payments-first, with real merchant adoption dating back to 2022 (Tuti Hostel in Tehran, Maine dispensaries via the MotaCup). PotCoin emphasizes PoS staking; MaryJaneCoin emphasizes consensus-enforced privacy. MOTA sits at the base of that tree.
In a standard bridge (like PotCoin's), the native chain is the source of truth — you lock native coins in escrow and receive SPL-wrapped equivalents. Burn the SPL wrapper to get the native back.
MotaCoin inverts this: the 125M SPL mint on Solana is the source of truth (mint authority permanently revoked, verifiable on-chain). The bridge holds SPL in a Solana-side escrow and releases native mainchain MOTA when you bridge in. The total circulating supply (SPL + mainchain) is hard-capped by Solana's mint revoke — the mainchain can't mint new MOTA into existence beyond what the escrow has released.
Why: it lets the Solana side be the immutable supply anchor while the mainchain handles PoS staking and merchant payments independently.

The bridge converts between SPL MOTA and mainchain MOTA 1:1 — it doesn't price MOTA against SOL or USD. You still need a venue where MOTA trades against another asset to discover a price and enter/exit.
Raydium and Jupiter do that on Solana (MOTA/SOL, routed to MOTA/USDC). FreiExchange does that with a traditional order book. The bridge is the turnstile between those price-discovery venues and the staking chain — which is why we say "the bridge is the exchange": no one central authority controls MOTA's access to liquidity, and no one can delist it off the global market.

X13 chains 13 distinct hash algorithms in sequence — Blake, BMW, Groestl, JH, Keccak, Skein, Luffa, CubeHash, SHAvite, SIMD, Echo, Hamsi, Fugue. Because each algorithm is hardware-optimized differently, an ASIC capable of accelerating the entire chain is significantly harder (and less profitable) to build than a single-algorithm ASIC like Bitcoin's SHA-256.
MOTA originally launched with X13 PoW and transitioned to pure PoS at the PoW cutoff. The hash is still the block PoW header format for PoS-signed blocks, preserving compatibility with the original genesis chain.
